ATV and UTV products are great
additions to add to your All Terrian Vehicle to create a
workhouse out of a recreational vehicle. You can
add implements to work in your garden, or a sportsman's
foodplot to plant and grow deer corn. You can plow,
disc, and harrow all with the same vehicle, just by
changing the implement. They are easy to
transport, and they connect easily with a pin hitch,
ball hitch, or receiver hitch.
For deer
plots, the main implements you will need are a mower,
disk, dry material spreader, plows, disk, cultivators,
harrows, cultipackers, and a liquid sprayer. These are
not necessarily in order of importance or order of use.
The Monroe Tufline products we carry can provide you
with all the implements you need.
Seedbed
preparation will be foremost on your mind for your deer
or food plots and this is where you will need all the
right gear. If your plot has high grass from not being
maintained think about using your ATV sprayer with a
roundup type herbicide on the plot a few weeks before
you plan to disk and this will help make for easier
disking duty.
Remember that herbicides like
roundup enter grasses and weeds through their leaves, so
it must be sprayed after spring green-up, when the
plants are actively growing. Using a quality sprayer
like the Fimco or PlotPro brand will make your task
easier. They are available for mounting on ATV's, UTV's,
Tractors, or can be purchased mounted on a small
trailer.
Before you go on your equipment
shopping trip remember one of the main draw backs to
tractor use over ATV use when working deer plots or food
plots is the weight of the machine. If you buy a light
weight all terrian vehicle you will have a harder time plowing and will
also make mowing harder especially on hilly rough land.
So the old saying is true with this one, bigger is
better, get a heavy high power unit and the heaviest
implements you can it will make life easier when doing
the hard chores. ... |
